Importance Of Sri Gaudiya Patrika

The Nature of Sri Patrika

Sri Gaudiya Patrika serves as the official publication of the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti. This Samiti is a devoted servant of both the Nabadwip Dham Pracharini Sabha, established by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur, and the Sri Visva Vaishnava Raj Sabha, established by Srila Jiva Goswami. Consequently, the Samiti embodies the unified essence of these two organizations. Thus, as the mouthpiece of the Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti, Sri Gaudiya Patrika reflects the voice of both these assemblies. Sri Sajjan Tosani, the official publication of the Nabadwip Dham Pracharini Sabha, and the Gaudiya, the mouthpiece of the Sri Visva Vaishnava Raj Sabha, together form the essence of the Sri Gaudiya Patrika. Its style and substance remain in harmony with the teachings and vision of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. In essence, it serves as the singular medium for disseminating the teachings of Srila Rupa and Raghunath.

The History of Sri Sajjan Tosani and Gaudiya

Sri Sajjan Tosani was first published around 67 years ago under the editorship of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. For 17 years, it was under his stewardship, and later, for seven years, it was edited by Srila Prabhupada. The publication ran for a total of 24 years. After a hiatus of nearly 45 years, in 1922, the monthly Sajjan Tosani was revived as the weekly Gaudiya. This continued for 24 years until it ceased publication in 1946.

The Emergence of Sri Gaudiya Patrika

Following the disappearance of Srila Prabhupada, his disciples endeavored to propagate pure hari-katha (discourses on the Supreme Lord). However, due to both internal and external challenges, they were unable to succeed fully. Sri Gaudiya Patrika emerged to restore and uphold the pure rupa-anuga teachings (the tradition of Srila Rupa Goswami) as directed by the authentic spiritual lineage (Sri Guru-parampara).

The Purpose of Sri Patrika

Sri Gaudiya Patrika is unlike other religious publications. It fearlessly proclaims the unadulterated truth. The publication takes a firm stand against erroneous conclusions and misinterpretations of those who oppose the rupa-anuga Vaishnava philosophy. However, it refrains from indulging in personal conflicts or self-glorification. Instead, it remains committed to preserving the sanctity of the devotional path (bhakti-marga).

Sri Gaudiya Patrika and Social Principles

While the Sri Gaudiya Patrika does not directly involve itself in political or economic matters, it opposes anything that undermines Sanatan Dharma (eternal religious principles) and morality. It consistently highlights that Indian thought is inherently rooted in religion and strives to emphasize the significance of spirituality in human life.
