Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.2

dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo ’tra paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ
vedyaṁ vāstavam atra vastu śivadaṁ tāpa-trayonmūlanam
śrīmad-bhāgavate mahā-muni-kṛte kiṁ vā parair īśvaraḥ
sadyo hṛdy avarudhyate ’tra kṛtibhiḥ śuśrūṣubhis tat-kṣaṇāt

“Reject all religion which is motivated, This Purāṇa gives the top most truth and can only be understood by those devotees who are hundred percent pure at heart. For the welfare of all, the highest truth is distinguished from illusion. These truths uproot the threefold miseries. This Srimad Bhagavatam, compiled by the great Maha-Muni Veda Vyasa is sufficient by itself for realization of God. There is no need for any other scripture. As soon as one hears the message of this truth with rapt attention and a submissive mood, by this culture of knowledge, the Supreme Absolute Truth is established within his heart.”

There are many religions or path out there which are motivated. For an example, a person may worship God to satisfy his immediate needs such as food, clothes etc. In many instances, we have seen large-scale conversion tactics employed such as giving away some material things in order to gain converts or in some contemporary association we have seen that some amount and initiation is given in order to receive some powers in third eye reading, mind reading or any other mundane achievements. This Srimad Bhagavatam is nothing of all those, this timeless scripture is completely unmotivated and it can only be understood by those whose heart are completely pure.

yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau
tasyaite kathita hy arthah prakasante mahatmanah

Svetasvatara Upanisad (6.23)

‘”The true import of the scriptures (srutis) is revealed in the hearts of those great souls who have equally the same unflinching bhakti for their guru and the Supreme Lord.”

Therefore we have seen that the great sage Maha-Muni Veda Vyasa who had compiled this beautiful classic under the guidance of his Guru, the great rishi, Saint Narada Muni had this unflinching devotion towards his masters. We should seek out those saints whose heart are completely pure, possessing topmost devotion and hear from their lips directly in their association with a submissive mood. This will cleanse our hearts to welcome that Sweet Absolute to reside within.
